Former Gamecock Cornerback Victor Hampton is in trouble with the law — again.

Hampton, 24, is facing charges of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license, according to the Columbia Police Department.

A Columbia Police officer stopped Hampton when he was driving along North Main Street in a vehicle that had only one functioning headlight. While speaking with Hampton, the officer “detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from him.”

Hampton was arrested overnight, after the officer conducted a field sobriety test, according to Columbia police.

Hampton’s arrest isn’t his first run-in with the law. In 2015, Hampton was arrested in Charlotte on charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding, reckless driving and having an open container, though the drunk driving charges were later dropped.

In 2014, Hampton was arrested for disorderly conduct after an alleged dispute with his sister. Hampton’s sister was also arrested.

Hampton played for the University of South Carolina from 2011 to 2013, playing on some of the Gamecocks’ most successful football teams. He was briefly dismissed from the Gamecocks in 2011 for violating team rules, only to be reinstated five days later.
