Ousted NewSpring Church founder Perry Noble has filed paperwork for a nonprofit by the name of Second Chance Church.
The new nonprofit, Second Chance Church, was filed in mid-July with the South Carolina Secretary of State's office. The new nonprofit is filed with a different address than The Growth Company, which was incorporated by Noble last November and offers consultations and speaking engagements for churches.
A coworker at The Growth Company said in an email that Noble would not be doing interviews until a later date.
Noble posted Tuesday on his Facebook page that he was running for South Carolina governor, adding "By the way - this is not real - just having fun!" with a winking emoji.
NewSpring is the state's largest church, with 14 campuses and attendance a year ago around 33,000 but the church has lost membership in the wake of its split with Noble more than a year ago.
Noble was removed from the church he founded, with church leaders citing alcohol and family issues. He has returned to take guest preaching slots at various churches, including at Powerhouse Church in Anderson, but NewSpring leaders said they were not prepared to invite him back to preach there.
