Letters: Trump a huge threat to black voters
Donald Trump asks the black community to vote for him by saying, “Waddya got to lose?”
The answer, of course, is your right to vote.
Republican legislatures across our country have been passing voter ID requirements and other patently unconstitutional laws to suppress black citizens’ right to vote. An appeals court recently struck down’ North Carolina’s law, saying it was enacted with racially discriminatory intent. Wisconsin and Texas also had their laws invalidated.
Can you imagine what it would be like if our friend from New York got to nominate some Supreme Court justices? Remember Pitchfork Ben Tillman? Remember Strom Thurmond? They would look like tree-hugging liberals compared to Trump’s choices.
Donald Trump is a Republican, and he is better at it than the other party members in that he can bring more racist vermin out of the woodwork and into his rallies.
If black South Carolinians want to retain their vote, they had better exercise it by voting for Hillary, else they might revert to being four-fifths a person.
