Clemson defensive lineman to transfer

A few weeks after Clemson defensive linemen Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell and Austin Bryant announced that they will be returning to school, the Tigers announced that they will be losing a defensive lineman to a transfer.

Tigers defensive tackle Jabril Robinson said in a statement on Clemson football’s Twitter page that he is leaving the program.

Robinson, a redshirt junior, has his degree and should be able to play immediately as a grad transfer.

“These past four years at Clemson University have been a blessing to my family and me. Clemson has developed me not only as a great football player but as an educated young man,” Robinson said. “However, I have more I want to accomplish both on the field and in the classroom. After much thought and prayer I have decided to further my education and athletic career elsewhere.”

Robinson finished with 19 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and two quarterback hurries while appearing in 11 games in 2017.

He had five tackles while appearing in six games in 2016 and 14 tackles, including a sack, in six games in 2015.

The North Carolina native played in the Shrine Bowl and Offense-Defense All-American Bowl following his high school career.

Robinson was rated as a three-star prospect coming out of high school.

Robinson graduated in December with a degree in parks, recreation and tourism management.

In addition to Robinson, Clemson has also had quarterbacks Zerrick Cooper and Tucker Israel transfer this offseason.
