Clemson looking good in first NCAA March Madness bracket preview
The NCAA Division I basketball committee released its top 16 teams at this point in the season on Sunday and Clemson has impressed the committee with its play thus far.
The Tigers are currently the No. 9 overall team, according to the committee, and are projected as the top No. 3 seed, playing in the Midwest Region.
If Clemson (20-4, 9-3 ACC) can secure a No. 3 seed or better, it would mark the highest seed ever for the Tigers.
There are four ACC teams currently in the top 16, including No. 1 overall seed Virginia. The committee has Duke No. 7, which would give it a 2 seed, and North Carolina No. 12, which would be a three seed.
As things stand:
▪ the No. 1 seeds would be Virginia, Villanova, Xavier and Purdue;
▪ the No. 2 seeds would be Auburn, Kansas, Duke and Cincinnati;
▪ the No. 3 seeds would be Clemson, Texas Tech, Michigan State and UNC; and
▪ the No. 4 seeds would be Tennessee, Ohio State, Arizona and Oklahoma.
Clemson returns to action on Wednesday when it plays at Florida State (17-8, 6-7).
