Clemson coach Brad Brownell provided an update to guard Shelton Mitchell during Friday’s press conference.

Brownell said that Mitchell is unlikely to play Sunday against Duke.

Mitchell was injured at the end of Wednesday’s game at Florida State when he took a shot to the head in the final seconds of overtime.

“I haven’t talked to the doctors. I would assume it’s unlikely that he’ll play right now, but I haven’t talked to anybody today,” Brownell said. “I think it’s unlikely that he’ll be out there practicing today at all and unlikely that he’ll play on Sunday.”

Mitchell is averaging 12 points and three rebounds per game and leads the Tigers in assists with 96.

Clemson is already without one of its best players in Donte Grantham, who is out for the year.

“We’ll adjust again,” Brownell said. “We’ve had to do it already, and the guys have done well with it for the most part. You hate for anybody to be hurt right now… You want your best players and the kids that have worked extremely hard and put in the time to be out there, but we have other guys that are on scholarship.”
