Clemson should be set with its kicking positions for the next few seasons after getting a commitment Monday night from punter Aidan Swanson of Tampa and IMG Academy.

He will join his good friend in incoming kicker B.T. Potter in giving the Tigers quality legs in both kicking spots for the foreseeable future.

Swanson also is a placekicker and was 5-of-7 on field goals as a junior. But he said the Tigers want him strictly to punt and cut loose his big left leg that produced an average of 46 yards per punt last season with 12 dropped down inside the 20.

“It’s been a dream of mine to play in that Clemson uniform since I was little. I’m excited to be a Tiger,” said Swanson, who has family in the Upstate.

He had a preferred walk-on offer from Clemson and he visited there Saturday for the junior day. He also visited for the Georgia Tech game.

Monday he got the call that his offer had been upgraded to full status, and he quickly accepted. He also had an offer from Nebraska, plus interest from LSU, Arkansas, Central Florida, Florida and Mississippi State.

Swanson gives Clemson four commitments in the 2019 class.
