Gamecock baseball signee Logan Chapman named SC Gatorade Player of Year
University of South Carolina signee Logan Chapman was named the South Carolina Baseball Gatorade Player of the Year on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-2, 185 pound pitcher is the state’s No. 1 prospect by Diamond Prospects and No. 2 by Perfect Game for Class of 2017. He was named the Class 5A Player of the Year by S.C. Baseball Coaches and picked to play in the North-South Select Game.
Chapman was 6-0 with a 0.66 ERA and struck out 93 in 51 innings for the Green Wave.
At the plate, he hit .365 with four homers, 27 RBIs and had a .778 slugging percentage.
Chapman also has a 3.22 GPA in the classroom.
“Logan Chapman has been an integral part of our baseball program,” Easley coach Josh Warner said in a release. “His strong work ethic and ability to lead are qualities that will serve him well in his future and future baseball endeavors.”
