Junior safety Toure Boyd will transfer from the South Carolina football team, head coach Will Muschamp confirmed Thursday.

“We decided to part ways,” Muschamp said Thursday night on his radio call-in show.

Boyd, from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., signed with the Gamecocks in 2015 out of Chaffey College and redshirted his first season at USC.

He played in three of four games this season, mostly on special teams, recording one tackle. It wasn’t immediately known why Boyd is leaving the team and what is next for the former junior college transfer.

He was considered a three-star prospect by Rivals, Scout and ESPN, while 247Sports gave him a four-star rating.
