Where South Carolina’s 2018 recruiting class ranks after signing day
In terms of bringing in blue chip players, the class South Carolina football wrapped up on Wednesday is the best USC has had under Will Muschamp.
And based on the rankings, it was a strong haul for USC.
South Carolina’s group was a consensus top-20 class, though that includes Dutch Fork athelete Bryce Thompson, whose status remains in limbo. USC signed a total of 21 2018 players, 19 in December and a pair Wednesday. USC also added 2017 greyshirt Tyreek Johnson, had a spot filled by the Ty’Son Williams transfer and has two spots open, one that could go to Thompson.
USC’s class ranks as follows:
Rivals: 19th (7th in the SEC)
247: 19th (7th)
ESPN: 17th (5th)
247Composite (combines all three): 19th (7th)
USC hasn’t been in the top-20 since 2015, a class with six four-stars who mostly didn’t play to that level. Were Thompson to eventually make it, the Gamecocks would have their highest-ranked class since 2014.
