Brandon Wilds makes case for spot with NFL’s Atlanta Falcons
Former South Carolina tailback Brandon Wilds, now with the Atlanta Falcons, found the end zone Thursday night for the second straight game.
Wilds scored his first professional touchdown a week ago in a preseason NFL game against Washington. He broke through with a 32-yard score Thursday against Cleveland
Andrew Hirsh of AtlantaFalcons.com wrote the Blythewood product was unsure of his place on the NFL roster until his first score. He’s on a team with Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman as established backs, while former No. 3 Terron Ward is hurt and Cyrus Gray and Gus Johnson battle with Wilds for the job.
“It’s a great competition,” Wilds told the team’s website. “Freeman, Coleman, Ward, all those guys, Gus Johnson, they only push me to make me better. Just being around those guys and working with those guys every single day can only push you to your top potential.”
Wilds had 26 yards on 10 carries with the touchdown against Washington. He had eight carries for 49 yards and the score Thursday.
Brandon Wilds with a nice TD run for the Falcons. First guy to greet him on the sideline was Patrick DiMarco. #Gamecocks
