O-lineman TJ Moore makes commitment to Gamecocks
Offensive lineman TJ Moore of Charlotte, NC, announced his commitment to South Carolina on Monday.
Moore (6-6, 280) chose USC over Tennessee and NC State, and also had offers from North Carolina and Kentucky, among others. He was offered at a Gamecocks camp a year ago by offensive line coach Shawn Elliott.
“I just feel like I’m at home at South Carolina,” Moore said. “You know, I had a great relationship with Coach Elliott from day one and Coach Muschamp. I think he’s going to be able to turn things around.”
Moore was at USC’s junior day in February and was close to committing to the Gamecocks then. But his recruiting took off and more schools jumped in with offers, so he opted to delay his decision.
Moore is the Gamecocks’ 20th commitment for the Gamecocks’ 2017 class and fourth for the offensive line. He joins Mallard Creek High offensive line teammate Eric Douglas in the class.
“I really didn’t put my commitment on Eric Douglas,” Moore said, “but I just feel like if I go there I’m going to be able to compete really hard in the SEC and do big things. I think it’s the place for me.”
