She’s No. 1! A’ja Wilson breaks South Carolina’s all-time scoring record

A’ja Wilson stands alone atop the South Carolina record book.

The senior star broke the program’s 36-year-old record for most career points held by Gamecocks legend Sheila Foster on Saturday at the SEC tournament in Nashville, Tennessee. With a basket in the first quarter against Georgia, Wilson now has 2,268 points over her illustrious four-season career at USC.

Foster and Wilson are also the only two players in South Carolina history to have 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their careers. She hit the 2,000-point mark on Jan. 11 against Auburn, and moved into second place in program history, passing the legendary Shannon Johnson, on Feb. 22 against LSU. She is now the 153rd highest scorer in NCAA history.

Wilson now has 626 points on the season, which ranks ninth in program history.
