Heartbroken community mourns death of River Bluff football player

Messages of condolences from the Midlands and around South Carolina are flooding social media as news of the death of a River Bluff High School football player spreads.

Lewis Simpkins, a 14-year-old Gator sophomore, died after collapsing at practice Wednesday. Coaches from around Lexington and Richland counties were joined by University of South Carolina baseball coach Chad Holbrook and S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson in expressing their sympathies on Twitter.
