Massively popular movie star is coming to Columbia for a comedy show
Adam Sandler, one of the biggest movie stars in the world who got his start as a stand-up comedian, is getting back to his roots with a fall tour that includes a stop in Columbia.
Sandler’s “You’re My Best Friend Tour,” is scheduled to come to Colonial Life Arena on Sept. 10, promoters said Thursday.
Tickets will go on sale to the public Friday at noon, but various presale events began Thursday.
Information on ticket prices was not available.
This is the “Saturday Night Live” alum’s only scheduled performance in South Carolina on the upcoming tour. It will be followed by a Sept. 11 show in Raleigh.
He announced the tour on social media Thursday, saying “Let’s have some fun.”
This will be a busy year for Sandler, who also stars in Happy Gilmore 2, which will be released on Netflix on July 25 and, in theaters this fall in Jay Kelly, a film directed by Noah Baumbach, according to Deadline.com.
“At 17, he took his first step towards becoming a stand-up comedian when he spontaneously took the stage at a Boston comedy club,” it says on Sandler’s IMDB page. “He found he was a natural comic. ... performing regularly in clubs and at universities.”
That led to TV roles before Sandler became a cast member on “SNL.” He then moved onto films, where his movies have earned more than $3 billion in the U.S.
