Music in the Midlands: Arts & Draughts, Super ’70s Showcase

Folk-hop duo Colorblind will headline the night’s entertainment at the Columbia Museum of Art. Grand Republic, a rock band reminiscent of the ’90s, garage punk group Tiger! Tiger! and Charleston indie band The High Divers also will perform.

Go for the music, but stay for beer tastings from The Whig, a gallery tour from Trustus Theatre’s Paul Kaufmann, DIY art projects, interactive art and scavenger hunts. “Remix: Themes and Variations in African American Art” is no longer up, but there is a new photo exhibit on display in the Community Gallery.

“Acoustic-Electric” guitar concert: Guitarist Devin Sherman presents “Acoustic-Electric,” a concert of contemporary, classical and chamber music for acoustic and electric guitar. Violinist Emily Wait and pianist Isaac Brockshus will join Sherman on the program.

That ’70s Super Showcase: The Freeway Music school will have a ’70s-themed showcase where about 150 music students will perform songs from the funkiest decade on record. There will be ’70s decorations, attire and (we hope) dance moves. Groovy.
