Michelle Visage dishes on RuPaul show, in Columbia Tuesday
"RuPaul’s Drag Race Battle of the Seasons" is coming to Columbia Tuesday night.
And, with it being mere hours till these lady boys take the stage, floor and presumably bar by storm (sound familiar?), we had to go to the source for more info about it: host Michelle Visage.

Visage is not only a judge on the reality competition, but a mentor to the queens and will be joining them on the 66 tour dates spanning 63 cities. Visage is no stranger to the stage or screen, having a career that’s been bench-marked with stints as one third of a female singing group, Seduction, the lead singer for S.O.U.L. S.Y.S.T.E.M. and even the fifth place runner-up for the 15th series of Celebrity Big Brother.
Read on to find out what Visage has to say about touring, what she and the queens like to do during their down time and if RuPaul herself will ever pop up on the road.
What’s been the overall response to the tour?
Visage: “Waaaaaay better than we could ever imagine! An entire month sold out in Europe, fabulous reviews and now we’re taking over our beautiful countryside in a giant blue bus!”
What can the audience expect performance-wise?
Visage: “This is the closest to a Broadway production of drag queens you’ll ever see. We’ve put our hearts and souls into this one and I promise you this is much more than a ‘drag show.’”
What’s the best and worst part of being on a 63 city/66 date tour?
Visage: “Best part for me is performing. It’s my first love and it feeds my soul. I also love seeing the fans react the way they do because I feel just as passionate about ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ as they do! Worst part? There’s only one or me; being away from my hubby and daughters.”
What’s been the most outrageous moment of the tour so far?
Visage: “We work too hard. There has been nothing outrageous. When we aren’t working we are traveling or sleeping!”
What do the queens like to do during their down time between shows? Will they be in Columbia long enough to do some sight-seeing? Is there anything they’re looking forward to seeing or eating?
Visage: “They each like different things. I like to hit consignment shops and vintage stores so a bunch of us do that. But each girl has her own preference. ... Eating? If we are supposed to eat something local in Columbia, TELL US!”
Has RuPaul planned to make any appearances?
Visage: “Mama is always with her children whether she is physically there or not. ... She’s our constant inspiration.”
So again, start your engines race fans. This performance will not be one to miss.
