Kimchi Korean Grill is set to open in Columbia’s Vista district.

A new restaurant is headed to Columbia’s Vista shopping and entertainment district.

Kimchi Korean Grill plans to open at 1115 Assembly St., right across from the South Carolina State House complex. According to posts on the grill’s Facebook page, it is targeting March 27 as an opening date.

The space at 1115 Assembly St. was formerly home to Crabby’ Cajun restaurant, which opened in 2020. Before that, the space was occupied by TakoSushi fusion restaurant. TakoSushi is now planning a spot in the Main Street Arcade Mall.

Per a menu posted online, the Kimchi Korean Grill will offer meals where diners pick a base (like white rice or potato noodles, among others), then choose a protein, such as spicy chicken, shredded pork, tofu or steak. You can add on toppings from a deep list, including grilled peppers, grilled mushrooms, kimchi, avocado and more. And there are a selection of sauces, including wasabi, teriyaki, yum-yum white sauce and a “Carolina Sauce.”
