A new car wash is being planned for the upper edge of Columbia’s Five Points shopping, dining and nightlife district.

According to a Facebook post from Trinity Partners Columbia, a real estate firm, Time to Shine Car Wash Inc. has purchased 1.9 acres of property at 2006 Gervais St. for $1.6 million. Trinity helped broker the deal.

The property in question is currently a vacant piece of land. It is directly across Gervais Street from the massive Station at Five Points apartment complex and is next door to a Shell Station and Falafel King restaurant. The site also is just around the corner from Cook Out restaurant and a shopping center anchored by Food Lion grocery store.

The real estate firm didn’t offer a timeline on the car wash’s construction.

A Time to Shine has a burgeoning footprint in the Columbia area. It currently has a location at 5490 Forest Dr., and the company is planning a location at the corner of Harbison Boulevard and Columbiana Drive in the heart of the busy Harbison shopping district.

And other car wash companies have been keen on the Midlands recently. Tommy’s Express Car Wash opened this year at 4700 Devine St. in a spot that was previously a landmark for the historic 2015 flood. And there’s a Take 5 Car Wash under construction on Augusta Road in West Columbia.
