A diner that is part of a regional chain has closed the doors of an Irmo location.

Hwy. 55 Burgers, Shakes & Fries has closed its diner at 1180 Dutch Fork Road in Irmo. The Google listing for the restaurant shows it as “permanently closed,” as does the Facebook page for the Irmo location. The final day was Oct. 29, per various online postings.

Meanwhile, the Hwy. 55 Burgers location at 1792 South Lake Drive in Lexington remains open. That one is located at the Shoppes at White Knoll shopping center.

Hwy. 55 has restaurants across the Southeast, including numerous spots in North Carolina and Tennessee. Its menu includes burgers, cheesesteaks, frozen custards, salads and more.

The Irmo Hwy. 55 location is exiting a corridor that has continued to grow with retail businesses. There is a Walmart, a Popeyes, a Pizza Hut and numerous other merchants in that stretch of Dutch Fork Road, and a new Aldi and a new Starbucks are coming soon.
