Popular Midlands BBQ truck to join Columbia’s coming food hall. What we know
A popular Midlands barbecue food truck is set to have a presence at a food hall being developed in a growing Columbia district.
Smoke It Up Express, a concept from the well-known Smoke it Up Food Truck, will be a part of the coming Gather COLA food hall at the corner of Sabal and Freed streets in the BullStreet District, according to Thursday social media posts from Gather.
“Smoke It Up Express is joining the Gather family,” the food hall said on Facebook. “Led by Chef Stanley Livingston and his incredible family, this Columbia favorite is known for low + slow smoked meats, rich Southern tradition, and hospitality you can taste. Smoke It Up is more than just barbecue — it’s a family-run experience built on passion, pride, and perfectly smoked ribs.
“Pulled pork, mac & cheese, peach cobbler… need we say more?”
This marks the fourth food vendor to be announced for Gather COLA, the food hall that currently is under construction at BullStreet. It’s the second popular Columbia food truck to announce a brick-and-mortar presence at the venue, following behind Mexican favorite Los Chicanos. Sandwich shop Bull & Bread and sweet spot Cocobowlz have also been announced as vendors.
Per a release earlier this year, Gather COLA, which is an effort from Cason Development, Greenville’s Four Oaks Property Group and BullStreet master developer Hughes Devlopment, will have nine restaurant and food vendor spaces “showcasing local and international flavors.” It is also set to feature two bar areas, pop-up areas for micro-retailers, 8,500 square feet of office space across multiple floors and an outdoor gathering area with seating and space for live entertainment.
Four Oaks Property Group previously developed the Gather GVL food hall located on Augusta Street in downtown Greenville. The Greenville food hall, located a short distance from Fluor Field baseball stadium, is home to a host of food vendors, including Cocobowlz, Greenville Beer Exchange, HenDough fried chicken and doughnuts, Mercado Cantina and others.
