2 sisters arrested after shooting at man in Columbia, police say. Here’s more
Two sisters were arrested after recently shooting at a man, according to the Columbia Police Department.
Both Jamila Toatley, 32, and Leona Toatley, 33, were charged with criminal conspiracy, police said.
On Aug. 18, the sisters “recklessly” shot at a man at 100 Ripplemeyer Ave., according to police. That’s in the area between Two Notch Road and Farrow Road, about 2 miles from Columbia College.
Police said the man was not wounded, and no injuries were reported.
Information about a motive for the shooting, or whether the sisters knew the man prior to the gunfire, was not available.
On Aug. 22, the sisters were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where each had bond set at $20,000, police said. Richland County court records show that Jamila Toatley posted bond Aug. 23, while Leona Toatley remains behind bars, according to jail records.
Both sisters are scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 25, judicial records show.
More arrests connected to the shooting are expected, police said.
Jamila Totaley was out on bond when the shooting happened, according to court records. On June 10, she was arrested on an assault and battery by mob charge that is pending, court records show. She posted a $5,000 bond June 11 in that case, according to court records.
