South Carolina man was dropped off at Midlands hospital where he died, coroner says

A South Carolina man who was shot and dropped off at a hospital in the Midlands on Saturday has died, according to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

Travis Desmond Rouse, a 35-year-old Sumter County resident, died Saturday at Prisma Health Tuomey, Coroner Robbie Baker said Monday in a news release.

Rouse died from injuries he suffered from an apparent gunshot wound, according to the release.

He was dropped off at the hospital’s emergency room, but it was not known where the shooting happened, Baker said.

There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or whether anyone else was involved in the gunfire. Information about a motive for the shooting was not available.

No arrests have been reported by the Sumter Police Department, which is investigating the death, along with the coroner’s office.

An autopsy will be held at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, Baker said.
