Deputies find shooting victim near gas station & Dollar General, SC sheriff says
One person was hospitalized following a shooting Saturday night in South Carolina, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 7 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting at a business in the area near U.S. 521 and Race Track Road, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. Both a gas station and a Dollar General store are in that part of Sumter.
At the business, deputies found a person who had been shot, according to the release. The victim was taken to nearby Prisma Health Tuomey hospital, the sheriff’s office said. Further information on the victim’s condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
It was not clear if the shooting happened inside of the business.
Information about the shooter, or shooters, and how many people were involved, was not available, and there was no word on a motive for the gunfire.
No arrests have been reported, but the shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s office.
