A man is shot and there’s a search for the gunman, Richland County sheriff says

A search is underway Thursday morning in South Carolina for the person who shot a man, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 9:15 a.m., deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of Bush River Road, the sheriff’s department said in a news release. That’s in Columbia, near an overpass above I-26.

Deputies arrived to see members of the Columbia Fire Department performing life-saving measures on a man who had been shot, according to the release.

Further information on the victim’s condition was not available.

No other injuries were reported.

Deputies, along with K-9 units searched the area, but no arrests have been reported.

Information about the shooter, or shooters, and if any more people were involved, was not available. There was no word about a motive for the gunfire, but the shooting continues to be investigated by the sheriff’s department.
