SC police officer involved in shooting at club in Richland County, sheriff says
A South Carolina police officer was involved in an overnight shooting at a nightclub, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
The shooting happened at Club Relapse, which is at 5024 Two Notch Road, the sheriff’s department said in a Sunday morning news release. That’s in the Forest Acres area of Columbia. Information about when the shooting happened wasn’t available.
An officer with the Forest Acres Police Department was involved in the shooting, according to the release.
There was no word if anyone was injured or killed in the shooting. It was not clear if any law enforcement officers were hurt, or how many were involved in the gunfire.
The sheriff’s department told The State that no deputies were involved, but it is investigating the shooting because it happened in Richland County.
Information about how many people were firing guns, or were otherwise involved in the shooting was not available, and there was no word about a motive for the gunfire.
The sheriff’s department said that Sheriff Leon Lott will hold a news conference at 4 p.m. Sunday to update the situation.
