Video shows train plow through semi truck stopped on railroad tracks in South Carolina
A train smashed into a semi truck in South Carolina, and nearby drivers captured the moment it happened.
The crash occurred just before 6 p.m. Monday on railroad tracks off Highway 52 in St. Stephen, according to a release from Berkeley County.
Video taken by witness John Waters Jr. and posted on Facebook by WCSC shows the semi truck, which appeared to be stuck, stopped on the tracks as the train approaches.
The train’s horn can be heard blaring in the distance as drivers near the semi truck move out of the way.
“Y’all better get out of the way,” someone in the video yells.
The train’s horn continues to blare as it speeds toward the stopped truck.
“Here it comes,” someone says in the video.
Then, about 30 seconds into the video, the train plows through the semi truck, sending road signs and the gates. flying into the air.
The crash also caused 40 gallons of diesel to spill, according to the release. The spill has since been cleaned up.
No other information has been released.
