Armed and dangerous teen wanted after shooting, Richland County sheriff says
A search is underway for an armed and dangerous teenager after an adult was shot, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Jadis Edwards, 19, is facing attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime charges, the sheriff’s department said Thursday in a news release.
The charges are connected to the May 14 shooting in the 3600 block of Hoyt Street, according to the release. That’s in Columbia, in the area between Two Notch Road and S.C. 277.
On May 14, deputies responded to a report of a shooting and found an adult victim who had been shot multiple times in the upper body, the sheriff’s department said. EMS took the victim to a hospital, but information on the victim’s condition was not available.
No other injuries were reported.
Edwards and the victim knew each other, according to the release. Edwards shot the victim at a family member’s home, the sheriff’s department said.
There was no word on a motive for the shooting.
The sheriff’s department said it believes Edwards’ family is assisting him in evading law enforcement. Edwards is considered to be armed and dangerous, according to the release.
