A kitten with the facial expression of “someone who’s SO over it” charmed shelter workers — but he needed a home.

“Don’t be fooled — Paul’s not actually tired of life (he’s never even had to clock in for a shift),” a South Carolina animal shelter wrote Sept. 17 in a Facebook post. “Underneath that hilariously unimpressed face, he’s a total sweetheart who loves affection.”

Then, one day after the friendly kitten gained fans on social media, he was adopted into a new home.

“Our adoption counselors were SO happy to see him go, since they instantly fell in love with his quirky face and sweet personality,” Katie Wofford, marketing assistant for the Greenville Humane Society, told McClatchy News via email. “And his new adopters were equally charmed!”

Paul got a fresh start after he landed at the shelter in early September. The little one had been rescued as a stray and became known for his grumpy appearance.

“Paul already looks like he’s spent 30 years working a 9 to 5, sitting in traffic, and answering ‘purr my last email’ a thousand times,” the humane society wrote. “With his droopy eyes and mismatched pupils, he permanently wears the expression of someone who’s SO over it.”

The shelter believes a birth defect led to the 5-month-old cat’s “unique eye shape.” He isn’t expected to require treatment.

“He was a bit timid at first, but comes out of his shell more and more every day,” Wofford wrote. “He’s playful, curious, and sweet around other cats!”

Then, the humane society shared the good news that Paul was adopted. The shelter celebrated as the kitten started his next chapter with his new owners.
