A snapped telephone pole has line lying across a major Lexington roadway.

The phone and cable lines are crossing over Highway 378 near its intersection with West Main Street in Lexington, according to the Lexington Police Department.

All nearby lanes of traffic are closed. South Carolina High Patrol officers and SCE&G crews are on the scene Lexington PD says.

The pole was broken by after a truck, which was working in the area, snagged the lines, an official said. Since the fallen lines are for phone and cable, no power outages have occurred.

“The lines that are down in Lexington are not SCE&G power lines,” said SCE&G spokesperson, Eric Boomhower. “They’re phone/cable lines. SCE&G’s power lines are not down, and there has been no interruption to service for our customers.”

The roadway should be opened in an hour says Lexington PD.
