Lanes on busy Lexington road closed after crash that caused injures, police say

Drivers are being asked to avoid a busy road Thursday after multiple lanes were closed by a midday crash that resulted in injuries, the Lexington Police Department said.

The multi-vehicle collision happened on U.S. 378/Columbia Avenue near the intersection with King Street, according to police. That’s the area between North Lake Drive and West Main Street which is densely populated with businesses and restaurants.

Police reported the crash at about 1 p.m.

Information about the cause of the crash, and the number of vehicles involved, was not available.

There was no word on the number of people who were hurt and their conditions.

Information about when all of the lanes would be reopened and the scene would be cleared was not available.

“Avoid the area but if passing through, be alert as first responders who are in the roadway on this scene,” police said.
