Train crashes into vehicle on South Carolina road, police say

A train collided with a vehicle on a South Carolina road Wednesday morning, according to the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety.

At about 10:15 a.m., the department of public safety reported the collision that happened at a railroad crossing at the intersection of Magnolia and Russell streets. That’s in Orangeburg, in an area that’s densely packed with restaurants and retail businesses that’s about a quarter mile from the South Carolina State University campus.

Information about when the crash occurred, the cause of the wreck and the type of train involved was not available.

There was no word about any injuries caused by the collision.

Part of Russell Street where the crash happened was blocked, according to the department of public safety.

Drivers are asked to find alternative routes, otherwise they should expect to be delayed and stuck in traffic.
