South Carolina man killed in early morning crash with truck, officials say

One person was killed Tuesday when he was involved in a crash with a pickup truck, according to South Carolina officials.

Timothy Allen Goldman, a 72-year-old Ninety Six resident, died in what the Greenwood County Coroner’s Office called an accident.

The collision happened at about 6:30 a.m. in Ware Shoals, said Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Goldman was walking south on U.S. 25, according to Bolt. Near the intersection with Greenwood Avenue South the pedestrian was hit by a 1997 Chevrolet pickup that was also driving south on U.S. 25, Bolt said.

Goldman suffered blunt force trauma and died, according to the coroner’s office.

The pickup driver, who was the only person in the Chevy, was not hurt, Bolt said. No other injuries were reported.

There was no word if the pickup driver was wearing a seatbelt, but the crash continues to be investigated by the Highway Patrol, coroner’s office and the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office.

Through Sunday, 34 people had died on South Carolina roads in 2026, according to the state Department of Public Safety. A minimum of 914 people were killed in collisions in South Carolina in 2025, DPS data shows.

At least two people have died in Greenwood County crashes this year, while at least five people died in crashes there in 2025, according to DPS data.
