All lanes on bridge exiting Columbia blocked by crash, SC officials say
A crash on Wednesday morning blocked one side of an interstate running through Columbia, creating delays for drivers on the morning commute.
All the westbound lanes on Interstate 126 were temporarily closed following the collision that happened at about 6:25 a.m., according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
The crash happened near the bridge that allows I-126 to span the Broad River, near the entrance to downtown Columbia.
Information about the cause of the collision, and the number of vehicles involved, was not available.
There was no word if the wreck caused any injuries.
Traffic cameras showed most of the westbound lanes on I-126 were empty, as the traffic jam backed up vehicles before they could enter the interstate.
At about 7:10 a.m., SCDOT said the scene had been cleared.
