Dead woman found in SC hospital bathroom, but she wasn’t a patient, coroner says

A woman’s body was found Tuesday in the bathroom of a South Carolina hospital, according to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office. That was not the most unusual part of the incident, as the dead woman was neither a patient nor an employee working at the hospital, Coroner Andrew Wilson said Wednesday in a news release.

Information about why 72-year-old Pickens resident Judy Haynes was at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital was not available.

But Haynes’ body was discovered by the staff at the Upstate health care facility, according to the release.

The coroner said there are currently no signs of foul play, but no cause of death was announced.

An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Wednesday, as Haynes’ death is being investigated by both the coroner’s office and the Easley Police Department, according to the release.
