South Carolina-Georgia kickoff time set for Williams-Brice showdown

South Carolina's SEC football opener against Georgia on Sept. 8 at Williams-Brice Stadium will kick off at 3:30 p.m. and be televised by CBS, the school announced Wednesday.

Georgia leads the all-time series 50-18-2. The Bulldogs defeated the Gamecocks last season in Athens, Ga., 24-10.

The Sept. 8 game is the third time that the Gamecocks and Georgia will face each other on CBS since 2014. USC won 38-35 in 2014 at Williams-Brice Stadium, while the Bulldogs defended their home field last season. The game is back in September for the first time since 2015 and is USC's second game of the season for the first tie since 2013.

The Gamecocks are 11-point underdogs against Georgia, according to “games of the year” odds released by South Point Hotel & Casino sportsbook in May.

South Carolina will open the 2018 season at home for the first time since 2014 when Coastal Carolina comes to Columbia on Saturday, September 1. The Georgia and Marshall games follow that at home before the Gamecocks hit the road for Sept. 22 game at Vanderbilt.

Kickoff times and TV coverage for the Coastal and Marshall games will be announced later this summer.

According to a ranking by CBS's Tom Fornelli, USC has one of the more favorable slates in the SEC.
