50 Opinions, Day 47: Between now and the season-opener against North Carolina on Sept. 3, we will ask 50 people: “What do you think about the Gamecocks in 2015?”Our fifth panelist is Greg McElroy, SEC Network host and former Alabama quarterback:

“I think people are sleeping on them. Everyone has completely written them off, (saying) ‘They are on a downward spiral. They are not the same team.’ They lost four games last year they should have won. They lost double-digit leads in three games. All three of those, they had at least a 92 percent chance of winning the game at one point. The Tennessee game was over 96 percent at one point. That’s insane to think about. ... Then you have the Auburn game where Dylan Thompson threw two red zone interceptions so if the ball bounces their way, and this is with a historically bad defense… I mean, how bad was it really? Really, they are not that far off. They just need some young players to develop. They addressed the concerns on the defensive line by signing seven guys, five of whom were either JUCO or prep school guys, so they are mature, they are physical. I expect a big improvement under Jon Hoke this year.”
