Alabama defensive transfer commits to South Carolina

South Carolina football has another transfer to its roster.

Alabama defensive lineman Monkell Goodwine committed Sunday to Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks.

“The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more. I’m a Gamecock!” he posted to Instagram.

Goodwine is the second defensive lineman the Gamecocks have added via the transfer portal this offseason, joining Pittsburgh’s Deandre Jules.

Goodwine appeared in five games during his three years with the Crimson Tide, including two in 2023.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Goodwine was a four-star prospect coming out of Rock Creek Christian Academy in Maryland. He was ranked in the top-100 according to the 247Sports Composite.

The Gamecocks had added 15 players from the transfer portal for the 2024 season. They added three others over the weekend:

Miami (Ohio) transfer wide receiver Gage Larvadain committed to USC on Friday night. Larvadain played his first two collegiate seasons at FCS Southeastern Louisiana before transferring to Miami in the Mid-American Conference ahead of the 2023 season. In his one year with the Redhawks, the 5-foot-10, 165-pound receiver caught 42 passes for almost 700 yards and a half-dozen touchdowns.

The Gamecocks on Saturday earned a commitment from Pitt linebacker transfer Bangally Kamara. He will transfer to South Carolina with one year of eligibility and a ton of experience under his belt. In his four seasons at Pitt, starting in 2020, Kamara saw time in 47 games. During his junior and senior seasons combined, the 230-pound linebacker tallied over 100 tackles, 9.5 for loss and a trio of sacks.

Oklahoma offensive line transfer Aaryn “AJ” Parks committed Sunday to play for the Gamecocks. Parks will have two years of eligibility left. The 6-foot-4, 301-pounder appeared in eight games as a reserve the past two seasons for the Sooners, including three this year. Parks was ranked as a four-star prospect coming out of high school in Maryland.
