Gamecocks coaches staying on top defensive line recruit set to announce soon

Largo, Fla. defensive lineman Jaquaze Sorrells talked with South Carolina recruiter Travaris Robinson on Tuesday, and said Robinson was just checking up on him.

USC remains one of the top schools for Sorrells who will announce Aug. 27. He does not have any leaders at this point. Sorrells camped with the Gamecocks in June and was back for a second look in late July when he made an unofficial visit with one of his trainers.

He said some of the other schools he’s hearing from at this point are Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Oregon. Sorrells is a former Florida commitment.

Last season, 6-foot-2, 292-poud lineman made 58 tackles, 17 1/2 for loss, six sacks and nine QB hurries in 10 games.
