Top defensive line recruit, Gamecocks target delays decision

The expected commitment announcement Monday from Winter Park, Fla. defensive lineman Jaquaze Sorrells didn’t materialize.

Sorrells set Aug. 27 for his announcement months ago as a way to honor a late uncle. But he’s not been able to make a decision and will take more visits before doing so. He visited South Carolina twice earlier this summer and has planned an official visit with the Gamecocks for Sept. 14.

He also has Oregon, Alabama, LSU and Florida State in his top five. Sorrells is a former Florida commitment.

Last season, 6-foot-2, 292-pound lineman made 58 tackles, 17 1/2 for loss, six sacks and nine QB hurries in 10 games. He transferred from Largo to Winter Park in the offseason.

▪ South Carolina basketball target Quincy Guerrier, a 6-foot-7 forward from Quebec, has set officials to Oregon on Sept. 6, Syracuse on Sept. 21 and Illinois on October 5 according to the IlliniInquirer. Guerrier included USC in his final 10 list he released earlier this month.
