Suspect in gas station shooting, captured in sensational video, apprehended
The man accused of shooting another person multiple times at an area gas station – an incident that was captured on surveillance video – has been arrested and charged, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Jonte White, 35, was charged with attempted murder, according to the sheriff’s department.
White was captured Monday, at the Days Inn in the 1100 block of Bush River Road, according to the sheriff’s department, which said the U.S. Marshals Service aided in the arrest. White was arrested without incident.
The incident occurred Feb. 11 at the BP Gas Station, located in the 7300 block of Parklane Road.
Video surveillance released by the sheriff’s department shows the suspect drive to the location, walk over and immediately begin firing multiple shots at the victim. The suspect then flees the scene.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital at approximately 1:30 a.m. in reference to a victim who was dropped off in front of the emergency room.
The person suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body, according to the sheriff’s department.
Sheriff Leon Lott stated that community tips led to the arrest of White.
White was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
