A popular chicken sandwich chain is getting set to debut its newest location in the Midlands, and now it has circled an opening date.

Chick-fil-A, which has locations across the U.S. and the Midlands, will debut a new restaurant at 425 Bush River Road, in the southwest corner of the parking lot of Dutch Square Center mall, at 6:30 a.m. Dec. 2, according to a post from the restaurant on Facebook.

The new restaurant at 425 Bush River Road will replace an older Chick-fil-A just up the street at 229 Bush River Road. According to the recent social media post, the old Chick-fil-A at 229 Bush River will close at 3 p.m. Nov. 26, ahead of the Dec. 2 opening of the new store.

“Come help us close out a chapter, start a new one — or both!!,” Chick-fil-A Bush River Road said on Facebook. “We can’t wait to serve you!”

The new digs on Bush River Road have been a long time coming for Chick-fil-A. The city of Columbia’s zoning board approved a measure back in December 2023 making way for the restaurant’s eventual move from 229 Bush River Road to the new site up the street. The new property will have more parking and increased drive-thru capacity, city paperwork indicated.

That a new Chick-fil-A facility is set to open is not surprising, as the chicken sandwich company has done a host of renovations, expansions, remodelings, moves and new openings at various locations in the Midlands in recent years.

For example, the Lexington location at Saluda Pointe recently reopened after being closed while it expanded its drive-thru capacity. The company’s location inside the Columbiana Centre mall also recently reopened after being remodeled. And a new Chick-fil-A opened in August at the Gateway 737 development on Gadsden Street next to the Colonial Life Arena.
