Sweet treat: West Columbia shop for ice cream, tacos to continue with new owners
A popular West Columbia spot known for ice cream and other treats will remain open, after all.
IceCream Taco, located at 2708 Emanuel Church Road in the Three Fountains area of West Columbia announced on Dec. 2 that it planned to close, with owner Sonia Norman saying that she planned a new phase in life, including traveling abroad.
But now it seems that the ice cream and taco shop has gotten a reprieve, and will continue under new ownership. In a video posted to IceCream Taco’s Facebook page, Amber and Ryan Mullins introduced themselves as the shop’s soon-to-be new owners. The Mullins also own Southern Solutions Heating & Air.
“Owning an ice cream parlor has been my dream since I was a child,” Amber Mullins said in the video. “I’m truly looking forward to my dream coming true and having the opportunity to serve you and your family.”
Norman initially opened IceCream Taco on Sunset Boulevard in Lexington in 2022, and moved to Emanuel Church Road in late 2023. It’s in the Mission Springs Plaza shopping center that also includes Bogart’s restaurant, the recently opened Pressed Panini sandwich shop and other businesses.
As the shop’s name suggests, IceCream Taco has offered ice cream and tacos, as well as milkshakes, chili dogs and more. In the summer of 2022 the shop won a poll of The State’s readers as their favorite ice cream shop in the area.
