A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting involving an SUV that lost control and crashed, killing a Columbia teen.

Rayquawn Tyrese Walker, 19, is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center without bond. He is facing charges of murder, three counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Walker is accused of shooting at a Ford Explorer on Farrow Road in Columbia on Nov. 21. In the SUV was Eau Claire High School student Cameron Scott, a 17-year-old who was traveling in the back passenger seat. Three others were also in the sport-utility vehicle.

Investigators learned that the driver of the SUV was speeding away from gunfire when he lost control and crashed into two parked vehicles. Scott, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was thrown in the crash leading to multiple blunt injuries, said Richland County Coroner Gary Watts. Scott died at the scene.
