Veteran Gamecock receiver's career is over
South Carolina veteran wide receiver Terry Googer built a presence and showed personality on social media.
So it only fit that he’d use the medium to announce bad news as well.
Googer wrote on Twitter on Sunday afternoon his career is over because of injuries.

He was knocked out of the 2017 Texas A&M game with a head injury and never returned.
He called his Gamecocks career “the best years of my life!” He also thanked teammates and fans and said he was happy for the role he played in helping get the program to where it is.
Googer was one of the most veteran players in USC’s wide receiver room. He’d been in the program four seasons. South Carolina only had three receivers in 2017 with more than two full years in the program.
In his career, Googer caught 12 passes for 140 yards. He had three starts in early 2016, when the position was devastated by injuries, and carved out a role on special teams early in 2017.
Covering a return in College Station, Texas, his head hit the turf hard. He was down for several minutes and taken out on a cart. He was in concussion protocol the rest of the year.
A four-star prospect out of high school, Googer signed with USC over Miami in 2014.
Late in his career, as younger teammates began taking the lion’s share of the snaps, Googer took on a role as a prominent voice on social media. He regularly tried to recruit players in whatever way he could, pump up the program and even offered to run quarterback Jake Bentley’s Twitter account for the season.
After announcing the news, Googer started retweeting kind words and responding to teammates.
You’ll always be one of us big dawg!
