Where South Carolina’s 2024 recruiting class ranks after signing day haul
Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks have inked the No. 20-rated recruiting class in the country as of Wednesday evening, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings that factor in all networks.
Twenty-four athletes signed with USC on the early signing day, including 15 high school recruits, one junior college transfer and eight more from the transfer portal. All but four of those guys will join the Gamecocks for spring football, Beamer announced Wednesday at his early signing day press conference.
USC has the 10th-best recruiting class in the SEC behind No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Texas, No. 7 Auburn, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 11 LSU, No. 13 Tennessee, No. 16 Florida and No. 17 Texas A&M.
A year ago, USC’s 2023 recruiting class ranked No. 16 in the nation and fifth in the SEC (not including Oklahoma or Texas, as neither school was a member of the conference at that point) with 24 commitments.
The Gamecocks signed two five-stars for the first time in edge Dylan Stewart and offensive tackle Josiah Thompson. South Carolina also nabbed the nation’s top-rated punter Mason Love, who received a five-star rating from Kohl’s rankings. These commitments come after Beamer signed wide receiver Nyck Harbor last year — the first five-star Beamer successfully recruited to South Carolina.
The Gamecocks lost two commitments Wednesday: four-star cornerback Braydon Lee and three-star wide receiver Zy’marion Lang. Lee signed with Maryland, and Lang signed with Toldeo. The only player who has verbally committed to USC but not signed yet is transfer wide receiver Jayden McGowan of Vanderbilt.
