3rd suspect in weekend shooting death arrested in NC
A third man wanted for murder and attempted murder in connection with the midday fatal shooting Saturday on Magrath Street, was tracked down in Wilson, North Carolina on Wednesday.
Jamal Trutus Curtis Hughey, 22, was taken into custody and is awaiting extradition to Columbia, said police chief Skip Holbrook in a news release Wednesday night.
Donquiese D. Green, 23, was shot and killed when gunfire rang out on the 2400 block of Magrath Street (near Colonial Drive) around 12:15 p.m. Saturday. A second victim, who has not been identified, was shot and hospitalized.
Witnesses told police several people were hanging out when a silver or gray vehicle drove up. An argument between males in the vehicle and Green as well as another person escalated to shots being fired from the vehicle. After the shooting, the vehicle sped off, witnesses told police.
Tyrone Cannon Hollins, 23, and Keoki Jonathon Hollins, 21,were arrested on Monday and charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime, police said earlier this week.
The incident remains under investigation.
