‘Not expecting Coach Muschamp’: What changed with USC’s Dylan Wonnum visit
Offensive lineman Dylan Wonnum met earlier with Tennessee head coach Jeremy Pruitt and three Vols’ assistant coaches Wednesday night, and then saw South Carolina recruiter Bryan McClendon in-home for what will be, according to Wonnum’s mom, the final visit from a coach before a decision is made.
It was thought Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp would have an in home visit late in the week but Consuela Wonnum said because Muschamp met with her son following a recent basketball game, he’s not going to be able to make a home visit. McClendon will wrap up the recruiting efforts for the Gamecocks with his visit.
“Not expecting Coach Muschamp, no,” Mrs. Wonnum said adding she expects her son to make his decision Saturday. South Carolina, Tennessee and Auburn are his finalists. Gus Malzahn of Auburn was in Monday.
Wednesday the Wonnums met with the Tennessee coaches for about two hours.
“Coach Pruitt talked with Dylan a little bit more one-on-one about Tennessee and how he would fit into the program,” Mrs. Wonnum said. “Nothing different than from the official visit, pretty much the same.”
She said a positive factor for Tennessee is her son’s choice of major, criminal anthropology. She said Tennessee has a strong program.
