Lexington is getting a new car wash on a busy stretch of road. Check out where it will be
It seems like people in the Midlands really like to keep their cars clean.
A new car wash is planned for Lexington, continuing a burst of new car cleaning facilities across the region. According to two large signs posted at the property, a Mighty Wash Auto Spa is coming to 5432 Augusta Road. That’s right in front of Wolf’s Fitness Center, about a mile east of the heart of downtown Lexington and about a mile and a half west of Interstate 20.
Mighty Wash Auto Spa already has a footprint in the Midlands, with a location in Lugoff.
The new Mighty Wash would come to a busy section of road in Lexington. According to state Department of Transportation traffic counts, about 30,500 cars per day pass down that stretch of Augusta Road. There are a host of restaurants, gas stations and other businesses along the thoroughfare, and construction is underway on a new Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers less than half a mile away.
There have been a host of car wash announcements or openings in the Midlands in recent times.
Time to Shine Car Wash has purchased nearly 2 acres of property at 2006 Gervais St., near Columbia’s Five Points, for a new wash facility. Time to Shine also has plans for a wash at the corner of Columbiana Drive and Harbison Boulevard, in the bustling Harbison shopping district near Columbiana Centre mall.
Tommy’s Express Car Wash opened this year at 4700 Devine St. in a spot that was previously a landmark for the historic 2015 flood. There’s a sign indicating that a new ModWash is coming to Highway 378 in Lexington, near the Publix-anchored Hendrix Crossing shopping center.
And there’s a Take 5 Car Wash currently under construction on Augusta Road in West Columbia.
