A taste of New Orleans is headed to an in-development food hall in Columbia.

Big Easy Seafood, which is an effort from popular local food truck Spicy Voo-Doo, will be a vendor at the Gather COLA food hall at Columbia’s BullStreet District. The seafood spot was formally announced in a weekend Facebook post from Gather COLA.

“The flavor of New Orleans is rolling into the heart of Columbia,” Gather’s social media post said. “We’re proud to officially welcome Big Easy Seafood — the food truck bringing Southern flavor, crispy fried favorites, and that signature NOLA flair to the Gather!”

This summer has brought numerous announcements for food and beverage vendors at the food hall that’s under construction at the corner of Sabal and Freed streets at the BullStreet development. Gather COLA will be located near the REI outdoor store and just west of Segra Park baseball stadium. Its opening is anticipated later this year.

Spicy Voo-Doo’s Big Easy Seafood marks the third well-known Midlands food truck to plan a more permanent presence at Gather COLA, following Mexican favorite Los Chicanos and barbecue spot Smoke It Up.

Meanwhile, last week officials said that Remedy, a new cocktail bar, will be located upstairs at the food hall, overlooking an amphitheater. And earlier this summer, food hall leaders noted that sandwich shop Bull & Bread — an effort from North Carolina sandwich shop The Half — as well as sweet shop Cocobowlz would be part of the project.

Gather COLA, which is an effort from Cason Development, Greenville’s Four Oaks Property Group and BullStreet master developer Hughes Devlopment, is set to have nine restaurant and food vendor spaces. It is also set to feature two bar areas, pop-up areas for micro-retailers, 8,500 square feet of office space across multiple floors and an outdoor gathering area with seating and space for live entertainment.

Four Oaks Property Group previously developed the Gather GVL food hall located on Augusta Street in downtown Greenville. The Greenville food hall, located a short distance from the Fluor Field baseball stadium, is home to a host of food vendors, including Cocobowlz, Greenville Beer Exchange, HenDough fried chicken and doughnuts, Mercado Cantina and others.
